WELCOME
TO
OUR LADY & ST EDWARD'S
CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
PTA

Welcome to the PTA section of our web-site

All parents of children who attend Our Lady & St Edward's Primary School are members of the PTA.  Meetings are held term time only, on the first Tuesday of each month at 8.00pm in the Parish Centre bar. Meetings are very informal and last for approximately one hour, and most people stay for a social drink afterwards.  New members are especially welcome, and have been a prominent part of the group for the past few years.

The next meeting will be Tuesday 8th June, at 8pm in the staff room at school.  We need as many people as possible to attend this meeting as we will be planning the Summer Fair.

Summer Fair - Friday 9th July

|
We are already starting to plan for the summer fair, as events and stalls have to be booked well in advance (e.g. donkeys).  Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see this year, perhaps a new idea?  Would you like to help and serve behind a stall for 30 minutes? If so, please speak to your class rep or any PTA member.  Last year was our biggest ever summer fair, this was only possible with the planning, creativity and dedication of the organisers, and of course with the generosity of the families and friends who visited the fair.

Farewell Mr Ballard!

|
We were very sad to say goodbye to Mr Ballard in April.  He was a regular attendee of meetings, and was a fantastic help at all our events.  Often behind the scenes, he helped set out tables and chairs, and would be there at the end of the night to take away the recycling and the rubbish.  He also co-ordinated the 2 talent shows.  Thank you Mr B from Elaine and everyone on the PTA, you will be missed on July 9th!  and good luck in your new job.

'Planet 51' from Community Cinemas

|

We sold approx 130 tickets for the film night on Friday, thank you so much to everyone who supported this family event.   For the first time we had a giant popcorn stand, courtesy of the Sandwell family of Sunshine Games, the children loved it!  We also sold ice-cream and soft drinks.   We are grateful to Community Cinemas for their professional services, punctual and efficient as always.  A profit of around £300 was made on the night, from refreshments and ticket sales.

100 Club

|

The 100 Club is one of our biggest fundraisers, normally bringing in around £1000 for school.  In the past, this money has  gone towards new reading books, and playground markings.

For £15, you have chance to win one of two monthly cash prizes (£20 and £15), and you are also entered into the grand Christmas prize draw.  (£60, £30 and £20).  Look out for winners and for your name here!

March's winners are Louise Gavell who wins £20 and Clare Parisi who wins £15.  April's winners are Clare Malinowski and Wendy Gregson.

Homebake sale

|

We raised £100 from the cake sale in February, the money was donated to a charity for Haiti earthquake victims, thanks everyone for baking and buying cakes.  This event is hugely popular and extremely well supported, the chidren are so excited when it comes to cake day!  Thanks Louise G, Lynne and Vicky for co-ordinating these for us.

School Link Books

|

You will have received a School Link  catalogue in your child's bag.  When you purchase from this catalogue, 20p commission is paid for every pound you spend, school receives this commission in the form of books.  They sell books for toddlers, up to children aged 11+.  Visit their website on www.schoollink.co.uk.  Our school reference is 0005224463, however you can nominate our school by using the search facility on the website.

Yellow Moon Catalogue

|

Yellow Moon is a catalogue that sells crafts, toys, educational games, gifts etc.  Everytime you make a purchase, you can nominate a school or charity to benefit from the commission.  You don't pay anything extra, and school receives a cheque with commission a couple of times a year.  Please quote our reference 'SOU1179' when making a purchase.  The website is www.yellowmoon.org.uk.

Garstang Cars Ltd

|

We have made an arrangement with a local taxi company, if you use Garstang Cars Ltd and quote code No 332 when you pay, they will pay school a percentage of the takings.  You will not have to pay any more, the commission comes from their profit.  Although the office is in Garstang, they do have Fulwood based drivers.  Please consider using them when booking taxis, and also for airport runs, courier and delivery services.

Tel: 01995 607777.      Thanks Wendy Gregson for letting us know about this scheme.
